A fictional learning example
Task: prepare a vegetable dish with consistent cuts, intended texture and organised presentation. The following scores and weights are illustrative, not a student result or binding assessment policy.
Evidence to collect
Photographs of cuts and the plated dish, a preparation record and observations on texture and tasting. Record measurement conditions where the task requires them.
| Criterion | Score out of 5 | Weight | Weighted result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Texture | 3/5 | 40% | 24 |
| Consistency of cuts | 4/5 | 35% | 28 |
| Presentation | 5/5 | 25% | 25 |
| Illustrative total | 77/100 | ||
Reasons for the result
Texture scores lower because the observations describe uneven cooking. Strong presentation does not override a failed critical safety requirement where the rules provide one.
An improvement cycle
Repeat the task with adjusted cut size and cooking time, controlling other variables. Compare new evidence with the same descriptor. A total alone does not establish a pass.
